Though most people go out to eat in order to avoid cooking, preparing your dish is half the fun at Urban Shabu. The restaurant specializes in the Chinese art of hot pot, a dining experience in which diners cook a la carte meats and vegetables in hot broth to create a custom meal.
Each diner has their own pot—built in to their table—and as the broth comes to a boil, it cooks any raw meats and veggies that are dropped in. Broth flavors range from sichuan spicy to savory pork bone. Guests can add even more flavor by visiting the sauce station, where they can mix up whatever marinades they like while using enough creativity to temporarily silence an inner child pleading for markers to use on nearby walls.
