Art
Before it was a Tony-winning Broadway comedy starring Alan Alda, Victor Garber, and Alfred Molina, Art was a French-language play making its debut at Paris’s Comedie des Champs-Élysées in 1994. Penned by Yasmina Reza, Art follows the 15-year friendship of Marc, Serge, and Yvan, who clash over Serge’s purchase of an expensive piece of art. The disputed magnum opus—a white canvas with a few lines on its surface—remains on display throughout the entire show. As the three friends alternate between conversations and monologues, their interactions delve into deeper territory, revealing conflicting values and disparate outlooks on the world. This production stars Glenn Nelson, John Sproule, and Frank Zotter.
