The goal of Olympia Cafe and Catering Restaurant is to serve our guests authentic high quality Ethiopian food. Our food is slow food and we are passionate about using the freshest ingredients possible. We provide a wide variety of dishes (gluten-free, vegan, vegetarian) pleasing to the palate.

What is one of your most popular offerings? How is it prepared?
Yemiser Alich’a: An Ethiopian split lentil tumeric mild stew with garlic, onion and ginger. Yesmiser Key We’t: An Ethiopian split lentil spicy stew with garlic, onions, spices, and herbs. Cabbage: Freshly cooked in Ethiopian style.

What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
I wanted to bring Vegan and Gluten-Free Ethiopian dishes to the community.

What do you love most about your job?
I love when the customers really enjoy our food.

The chefs at Olympia Ethiopian Restaurant Cafe and Catering boast the family recipes—along with the patience—to create authentic Ethiopian dishes, which are known for being slow-cooked, spicy, and comforting. They simmer beef for hours with caramelized onions, ginger, pepper, and rosemary to create their yesiga t’ibs with rice. They also take 24 hours to prepare their signature dish, doro we’t, which must be ordered at least a day in advance. The long wait yields a spicy chicken stew paired with housemade yogurt and cottage cheese. Diners then use flat injera bread to sop up all of its juices.
